Put Kids First is a non-profit organization whose goal is to keep children safe through community involvement, education and legislation.

It is a group that was started by Chris Danielson after the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl from Chris' neighborhood on October 1, 2000. A month later the little girl was found murdered.

Since its beginning, Put Kids First members and volunteers have petitioned for a sex offender registry (in Canada), have attended and organized community events to bring awareness to the issues regarding children's safety, making appearances at offenders' court dates, speaking out and fighting for changes to the law. However, critics[who?] say it is a Christian conservative political lobby of which the main goals are to push for the continued punishment of accused child molesters, regardless of the truth of the accusations and that it has long pushed for sex offender registers and fewer rights, including the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty, despite consistent evidence that it has no effect on the crime and in fact increases the chance of a registered offender committing another crime, be that sexual or just criminal because they are unable to return to a normal life after carrying out their sentence[citation needed].
