Outpatient services for adults, adolescents and families include assessment, individual and group counseling, toxicology testing, general outpatient, and intensive outpatient. CODAC is also the state's largest provider of opioid agonist treatment at four locations where methadone is used for both maintenance and detoxification and is combined with supportive counseling and other services. Additionally, CODAC sponsors programming of national prominence in the areas of co-occurring problems and treatment of incarcerated men and women maintained on opioid agonist medications.
A charter member of AATOD, the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, CODAC is funded by Federal, State and private sources. CODAC recognizes that Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an important element in a comprehensive approach to substance abuse treatment and recovery. MAT is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Research shows that when treating some substance-use disorders, a combination of medication and behavioral therapies is most successful. MAT is clinically driven with a focus on individualized patient care.
CODAC has offices located in the Rhode Island communities of Cranston, Providence, Newport, East Providence, and Wakefield. Fully licensed by the RI Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals, CODAC is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and certified by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
